Teak is a dense hardwood, rich in natural oils, which makes it one of the most durable woods for outdoor use. It needs no preservatives or treatment to last, and every piece is sanded and polished before it leaves the factory.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLeft outside, teak slowly turns a soft silver-grey as the surface oils evaporate. The oil deeper in the wood stays, and that is what keeps it strong. Oil does not make it last longer, can encourage mildew and leads to patchy colouring. Never use a pressure washer.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eTo keep the original honey colour, clean the wood with a teak cleaner, let it dry, then apply a thin layer of teak sealer. Repeat about once a year.
